Is the money in Lagos Life real?

No. The terms of use say Lagos Life uses the word “Naira”, the ₦ symbol, and naira-style numbers inside a fictional game economy. Those units are “Game Naira” or “Lagos Life Naira”. Game Naira is a fictional digital game unit.

The terms say Game Naira:

• is not Nigerian legal tender, physical naira, or eNaira
• is not issued or backed by the Central Bank of Nigeria
• is not a bank deposit, electronic money, or stored monetary value
• is not a financial account, and is not money held on trust
• is not a debt Lagos Life owes the player
• cannot be withdrawn into a bank account
• cannot be redeemed for real-world naira or another real currency
• has no exchange rate against legal tender
• has no real-world cash value just because the game shows ₦

The terms use “₦1,000,000” as an example. That display does not mean Lagos Life owes the player one million Nigerian naira.

Can I buy Game Naira?

The terms say you may be able to purchase Game Naira. Buying it gives you game units. It does not give you a right to redeem those units for cash. The terms also say you must not sell Game Naira for real money or run an off-platform exchange.
